A World With No Mercy

If only this world had shown me a little more mercy, maybe I would still have a home.

If only this world had been there for me when my mother wasn’t, when my dad left. If only this world had even cared.

But this world doesn’t care. This world mocks, this world ignores, this world breaks and tears down and hurts you more than you knew you could be hurt.

When I was younger, I used to wonder...

Mercy, If You Have Any

If only this world had shown me a little bit more mercy…

Maybe I would have stayed with you.

Things would be different and we wouldn’t be this cold. Maybe I should have stayed. But wouldn’t that be rude?

After all I’m nothing else than a traitor, the delator of your suffering, the knight of your loot and the one who stole your being.

I think it wouldn’t have mattered if it were material, no...

A Woman’s Revenge

If only this world had shown me a little more mercy; it wouldn’t be cursed with the demon within me. For the past thirty weeks, I have felt the stirs of a monster inside my womb. I have seen its talons and the snarling of its premature mouth. This child has been fighting for release, and I’m certainly ready to be rid of it.

This unwanted burden was not a mistake, but a parasite forced upon me...

Ophélie Murielle

If I was shown mercy I would be weak. But somehow in my mind I can help but yearn for the possibility that one time. But one time my Aunt would look upon me and think I wasn't anything but my fathers daughter. Amélie was here name. She lived up to it. Hard working sure. I shouldn't spite my family but I do. No matter how hard I tried I wasn't ever good enough. Too much like my Father or not enough...

Forgotten

“If only this world had shown a little more mercy, then more lives wouldn’t be lost.” Shannyn told her cellmate, Ben.

Ben climbed down from the bunk and sat on floor in front of Shannyn, who was curled up on ball. “It must have been really hard, being blamed for something you didn’t commit.” Ben said empathically.

“ Especially with something as serious as this.” Ben stroked the floor of th...

A Little Mercy

If only the world had showed me a little more mercy, these people would not all be dead.

But they are. Here is how it all came to happen.

Not surprisingly,it started the day I was born. My mother was hoping for someone else - perhaps a little blond girl. I was not a little blond girl. But even with that it might have worked out. My mother could have decided that a son was nice -was wort...

Kill Me, Darling

The pain is unbearable. He has me by the neck, air leaving me every passing second. I throw my head back connecting with his skull. He yelps in pain, jumping away from me and clutching his head. I roll up my sleeves, getting ready for another attack. “You’ll have to do better than that!” I spit.

Blood drips down the side of his head as he looks up at me and grins. “You know, you always pretend t...

The Red Wedding Dress

If only this world had shown me a little more mercy, I wouldn’t be in this dress right now. This stupid wedding dress, tight and uncomfortable. It’s exactly what he would want.

There’s a storm brewing outside, a light drifting in from the opaque window curtains, drowning the room in red. The dress took on the color as I twirled around absently in the gown.

Red, the color of love and passion. The ...

The tears run continuously.

The dogs licks at its hurt paws.

The cat voices a pained meow.

The pig shrieks its tail off.

Marianne sat alone on the cold stone bench by the canal, the grey skies echoing her mood. The rain had just ceased its relentless drumming, leaving the streets slick and reflective, much like the shattered pieces of her once-whole heart. In the lingering hush after the storm,...
