“If only this world had shown a little more mercy, then more lives wouldn’t be lost.” Shannyn told her cellmate, Ben.

Ben climbed down from the bunk and sat on floor in front of Shannyn, who was curled up on ball. “It must have been really hard, being blamed for something you didn’t commit.” Ben said empathically.

“ Especially with something as serious as this.” Ben stroked the floor of the jail cell. “I guess it doesn’t matter anymore, now we’re both villains in a world that couldn’t accept they were wrong.”

Shannyn lifted up her head to face Ben, “What do you think is gonna happen once the disappearances and murders continued?” Shannyn asked her cellmate, who has been here for a while.

“Well, I guess the world might as well forget about you and continue to focus on the case.” Ben replied simply, not catching her gaze.

Shannyn stared up at the ceiling, “what will it be like when I am forgotten?”

Ben looked up at her, his eyes serious but had some what of girl in them, “Well…” he cleared his throat, “it will be hard at first, but eventually you’ll get used to the empty feeling.”

Shannyn turned her attention back to Ben. She nodded, “Well I’m at least glad I get feel it with you.”

She saw something light up in Ben’s eyes. Joy, perhaps. Shannyn knew that Ben has felt empty for a long time, but maybe now something has changed in him. She smiled at him and he smiled back, for the first time.
