Writing Prompt

POEM STARTER

"She dropped her dress, and her inhibitions, at the door."

This is an example of a syllepsis, where the meaning of a verb (here 'dropped') is both physical and metaphorical. Write a poem that includes a syllepsis (do not use the example).

Steady on the Road

Falling down the stairs because the tiles are to loose to get by

Falling in love because when I looked I had to bat my eyes

Steady on the road as my hands feel shaky

Steady in the class so the material doesn't break me

Up into the air because the ground was to crowded

It's quiet down there but up here I feel calm

The new normal isn't normal yet

But its better than the first time we met

Unsure of ...

Miss The Point, And You

Lie in your arms, and straight to your face

Fall in love, and from grace

Hold onto memories, and your hand

Follow you home, and your every command

Jump into the lake, and straight to conclusions

Drown in the water, and also delusions...

Let

They let the door open,

as an invitation,

but not for someone in special,

but for anyone who would want to enter.

They also let the windows open,

also as an invitation.

But this time not only for people,

but for animals this time.

And in the end,

they let

their souls open.

But just a few minutes.

—before closing them again.

This time,forever.

And never let anything open ever again....

Opening The Door

He opened the door and his heart to her

He build her a home and they grew more closely together

In all those years when they were strangers

Now they speak with each other so familiarly

They live together and spend time together

They got close with each other

He let her in metaphorically and physically

They are now more than friends

To know someone so long and join together

To break that w...

Hopeless Paper

Silently, I grasped all the hope I had left

The wind blew my hair like a melody

And I held the paper tightly

A paper filled with my life and dreams

A damp paper sat beneath tired fingers

My tears flowed through the lines

Smudging the memories held by beautiful words

And I tried to flow through the pain and the hurt

The ocean looked back at weary hazel eyes

Its swift beats demanded an answer from...

Poem Starter

She dropped her dress, and her inhibitions, at the door.

Crawled over alll euphoria for her hunting snack

I backed up from the half cat half human like lioness prowess of her downed left gown dress on the ground floor. Outside no down pour. No rain going on for months, now four.

Horrors poor and pound how she liked to drown guests and didn’t like getting gowns wet. Liked to kill while smelling h...

Syllepsis

I started walking

I kicked up the dirt and my confidence

With each step it spurt

Into the air and onto my clothes

I started running towards me again...

From Ruins To Rebirth

You destroy houses and hearts to build new ones,

Leaving families homeless and lovers loveless

in the wake of your ambition.

You pave paths through dreams and despair,

Erecting towers where whispers of the past linger in the air.

But from the rubble of yesterday’s warmth and walls,

New stories arise where old ones fall.

In the midst of steel and stones, echoes of laughter blend,

As the future we...

Talk With Your Body

I seen you across the room

You caught my eye

Black dress

Right up to ur thigh

You got everything that I like

Dancing on the tables like a pro

Come baby let me show you what I could do with a pole

Ur someone I wanna get to know

Baby can you talk with your body

Tell me all the ways that you want me to

You don’t need ur lips so put them on me

Promise baby I won’t touch you softly
