The night you left, I swore the sky was wrong.

Not one sad violin, no sorrowful song.

Instead, a crash—a sound like shattered glass—

That's when I knew your "forever" wouldn't pass.

You packed your things. A messy, hurried flight.

You said our love was fading, losing light.

I stood there, darling, leaned against the door,

And watched the future I’d imagined, hit the floor.

Clinging to walls,

As shadows fall,

Show we can find a way

The people who are scared of the truth

Scared to reach into the fires of freedom

Scared when the leaders fall

And they’ll have to lead

Some pretend

The people who do,

Who do have hope

The people who can brave through

Oh when the stars fell

It was a shame for such beauties to be replaced by lanterns

“But where else would we’d get light?” Well,

I heard the stars were bright,

Y’know, people who actually create from the mind and not from what their told

“Oh well” they said

“Oh well that the stars fell, we’ll just create new ones.” They said,

New ones, but how could you replace stars that were born from the sky?...

Did they know they were falling?

Did a breeze grace their right cheek

On the way down?

Did their best moments come to mind?

Did they have nightmares

Of the ones they wronged?
