Writing Prompt

POEM STARTER

Write a poem that could be sung as a lullaby.

You could set it to the tune of an existing lullaby, or think up your own rhythm. Remember that lullabies are for children, and are ususally meant to be calming.

Mom’s Song

Rocking, rocking, all the day

Rocking, rocking, time away

My sweet baby

She’s my darling

My sweet baby

She’s my love

My sweet baby

How I love her

How I love her so

Rocking, rocking…...

Sleep Sweet Baby Sleep

Sleep sweet baby sleep…

Under the blinking stars

And the fireflies

Sleep sweet baby sleep

Under the bright moon

Picking through the window

Sleep sweet baby sleep

With mommy kissing you

The cherubins will guide your sleep...

Lullaby

Read while listening to:

Keraunos

By: PlayaPhonk

Why don’t you like me?

Blood stains on my white tee.

Your words mean nothing.

Baby, I’m not for touching.

Yuh, so bite me.

Fists balled up.

So fight me.

What’d you say now?

Scared of a girl, how?

Standing five foot two.

Billions, but I chose you.

Twenty in the clip.

Make a body flip.

Won’t hear the lip.

Pocketing, I’m not a card.

Talons out, ...

Sailing Blues

I know you didn’t want to

become one of them…

But life is so messy,

so heavy—

all in your hands.

You’re caught in the present,

in sorrow and distress…

Afraid that the things

that you love

might slip through your hands.

And I know,

you are trying your best.

But they judge you…

in every single way.

Even if the ocean is true,

you are stuck in your sailing blues.

Can you see what I see in your eyes...

Come Home To Me

When the wind blows

And then storms comes

Oh come home to me

When the nights gone

When the sun’s back

Oh Come home to me

The door will open

The floor stained red

Oh come to home me

I will be laying

I will be waiting

I wait there with open arms

I will be wishing

You had come sooner

Oh come, home, to, me....

A Swan Mother’s Lullaby

🎶 Shhh shhhhh

There goes the swan

Gliding gracefully in her pond

Shhh shhhhh

Listen dear

Don’t miss the rustling

Of her wings

Cradling her babes

Shhh shhhhh

Hear hear dear

The cygnets chirping

Under their mother’s wing

Peeping peeping

Like you are my dear

Sleeping sleeping

In my arms my dear 🎶...

The Last Letter

On the edge of a quiet village stood a crooked little house with a rusted mailbox that hadn’t seen a letter in years. Inside lived old Mr. Ellery, who once wrote letters for everyone in town—love letters, farewell notes, apologies—each one sealed with his steady, graceful handwriting.

Now, with trembling hands and eyes dim with age, he wrote his final letter. It wasn’t for a client this time. It ...

Time To Sleep

Breathe in and out the day is done,

It may have been long but it’s you that has won.

Another day’s finished,

So clear your head for the next.

You’ve finished your dinner now it’s time to rest.

Lay your head on your pillow and live in the now,

I know your thoughts are racing but you can figure out how.

So ask your last question then close your eyes,

I’m sure your dreams will have you surprised....

Telephone Lullaby

There is a number I call every morning

It’s your voice that. , I am wanting to hear

But the number I call, never answers at all

All I get is a buzz, busy buzz, busy buzz in my ear!

I always get that buzzy buzz

When I telephone your house from mine?

Why do I get that busy buzz, huh?

Cause something is always on your mind!...

Monsters In The Night

Sleep my child now

You are safe and sound

The mist creeps ever near

But your mother will appear

To protect you from

The monster that will come

In the night so still

In the wind so chill

Till the sun arise

The monster then shall die

Burned by gleaming light

The end of all the blight...
