Writings

Extinct

Fluffy and brown

Giant, with four feet on the ground

Two huge tusks

Curly hair atop their head

Steps that boom loud enough to wake the dead

(its so bad but i need to keep my streak)...

ELFIN

oh thou most extinct one

the sun pales next to you

lush dwellings that leave me

green with envy

droplets of rain on your back

glisten like precious jewels

grace me with your presence

when I visit your home

oh thou most extinct one

...

Gone

It swished through the deep like a giant blade

Jaws agape and it’s teeth razor sharp

Grey and dark and always hungry

The water closed behind her

But food runs so short

Hungry again

She dives deep

All dark

Gone...

Pain

The gunshot rings out

I fall

Everything hurts

And I can’t do anything

I’m stuck

Frozen in this moment

Physical pain

The gunshot rings out

I fall before it even hits me

My mind is a bruised battlefield

Filled with guilt

Knowing that if i fall

There will be no one left

Mental pain

The gunshot rings out

I fall down

I was the last one

When i take my final breath

We will be extinct

I cry out

Pain

...

Draft

Lost my draft. This is a placeholder....

Gone

The creatures are gone...

Live so very long

Dominating you lear

Quietly you hear...

Passing By

Flying by / north to south / east to west

Stealing food / drinking water / passing by

Orange underbelly / dark grey body / flying peacefully

Shots fires / 3 to 5 / billion

$1,500 lost / from countless numbers / infinite multitudes

The last one alive / Martha / died tragically

At the Cincinatti Zoological Garden...

Bye, Birdie

Ode to the bird whose name gave a false idea of its intelligence. A bird whose evolution did not equip it with the skills to survive a more modern predator. Whose defenses were penetrable and incapable of saving itself. Poor, poor flightless bird. Now, there’s no more existing. No generations to come. No opportunity to evolve. Good bye, never to be seen again by the world....
