Delphine P Snow

Delphine P Snow

I’ve written since I was a kid: journaling and short stories. Now I dabble in storytelling, poetry, and songwriting while I write my novel. I’m here to enjoy other people’s writing and to share my work. I’m always open to feedback on anything I post.

The Rodent Queen

Delphine P Snow

2 min read

Amira, The Rodent Queen stood on her hind legs in front of her council and began, “my fellow Zaroombas, all is not lost, but we must come together as one to get through this transition period.”

“Believe me when I say that my cabinet and I have come up with a plan that will ensure that the great famine of 2000 DOES NOT repeat itself.”

“Chloe, our most treasured and beloved human, unfor...

Goodbye is…

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

When

You left

No goodbye,

Suddenly gone,

My heart stopped, shattered.

Come back, please. Don’t leave me.

How could you leave? Without a word?

How can our last time together, be

Our last time? Please, please don’t let it be

So. Say you love me, still. Forget me not....

Silent Scream

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

This is dedicated to all the mothers in the United States who have lost a child to a school shooting.

face contorted in anguish

words of woe emanate from her throat

tears stream down. Oh what languish!

she lets her emotions vanish

down the cavernous void of her grief as her

face contorted in anguish

makes him uncomfortable. He’s outlandish

to chide her for her wanton public display, as

The Girl at a Tattoo Shop

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

Does she know the power of her words

Words long written and possibly forgotten

Does she know she changes lives daily

The lives she could never even imagine

Does she know her black book is scripture

Passed on from woman to woman

Wondered the girl who once visited

A tattoo shop_

It was a simple message from within her

That she inscribed on the page of her book

“Write the book,” it said.

But that ...

A Bed Made of Thorns

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

Give me black skies in the summer

Give me several  lifetimes of endless winters

Let fire fall from the sky like rain

Let it consume me with unashamed glee

Let me walk barefeet on the sands

of the Lut desert in July

Accept my barter for a bed

Made of the thorns of roses

I'll take anything else

In exchange for this anguish

Hope?

Hope cannot pull me out

From the depths of my darkness despair

For...

Cherri

My Cherri

You showed up

On your own time

You brought with you the

Gift of rest, bestowed it upon

My heart. Cherri my anchor, oh my

Wonderful little girl, every day with you is

Filled with overflowing joy. My Cherri pie, my angel

I will forever be your home, your lighthouse, your beacon

THE RETURN

Delphine P Snow

2 min read

Once upon a time, not very long ago, it was a thriving theater. A local farmer had donated his barn and part of his property to the town. One of the local councilmen thought it was a brilliant idea to turn it into a theater. But when funds dried up, so did the shows.

Nowadays it was abandoned.

Lacy knew it was the perfect place to set up her operation.

It was isolated, a good eight miles away ...

Shelbyville

Delphine P Snow

2 min read

Prior to its notoriety, the town was a serene oasis for its locals. It had Gun Lake, one of Michigan's numerous lakes. The locals fished, tubed, swam, and had their boats on the water at their leisure. It was an obscure small town between Chicago and Grand Rapids.

Due to no fault of its own, it became the vacation spot for the rich, and those with too much disposable income.

The quaint town wi...

Maybe This Time

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

I went in thinking

Maybe its my time

Maybe its time to shine

I did the best I could

I jumped higher

I twirled faster

I stomped harder

Still it wasn't good enough

I didn't get the call

Someone else got the job

Maybe I should give up

Maybe it's not meant for me

This is what I tell myself

I don't have what it takes

I don't have the it factor

I don't have the body they want

Still I put on a show for...

Rain Dance

Delphine P Snow

1 min read

When I was a child I danced in the rain

When I was a child I ran in the rain

When I was a child I played in the rain

When I was a child I laughed in the rain

I look at the rain falling

Through the windshield of my car

I wipe it away,

Like an inconvenience

I bemoan its presence

I’ve forgotten the joys

It once brought me

I no longer dance in the rain

I no longer run in the rain

I no longer pla...
