Before Us

There are many different tales and legends about how we came to be the way we are. How we came to be Neuros or Pyros. Water or fire.

There are two popular ones though. One of them is that the gods, Neuron and Pyron, choose us. The other one is that we choose them.

Let me explain—

Before we are born, we stand before two rays of light. A blue one, which represents becoming a Neuro, the people...

Revenge

Thunder cracked as lightning lit the sky. Mortin looked out over the lake imagining the town across the water. The place of his birth a century ago. And the place of his coming justice. He was going to hurt the people of the town the way they hurt him.

Lighting flashed again and the thunder rolled just like that night so many years ago. He remembered it like yesterday. The mud caked his face as ...

The Vision Of The Second Trial.

The Aegis Blade slid into the pedestal with the sound of breath being held—and never released.

Light dimmed.

Sound vanished.

The chamber was torn away, as if peeled from reality.

Kaelen stood in void.

Not darkness—blue. An endless, liminal realm of cold light and mirrored ground. Beneath his boots, the surface shimmered like calm water, perfect and still, reflecting his form as though awaiting ...

What Lies Beneath

Some say we all have stories already written but we are unaware of it. How every decision leads toward two options: listen to the anger on my right or compassion on my left. Both change my friendships, home, head, and life. Each moment is a clear reminder that I have two sides and both have enough power to destroy what I have worked hard to build. Too much anger leads to heartache or assault of so...

The Job

If I want this I have to survive. But how can I when I look like this. I can’t even put pills in my body. I don’t want to keep answering the questions about my scars. I don’t want to be this way. But just for the thought of saving someone. A innocent life. I have to continue this is my dream. I want to be there on peoples worse days. Putting the fire out. But I’m killing myself by living....

Lightning

I wanted to be someone

People could look up to

And feel hopeful.

I wanted to always be the person

That gets back up

And keeps hoping.

I

Still

Do.

Lightning crashes

Around

Me.

Water pools at my feet

Or maybe

It’s tears.

Or maybe

It’s blood.

Maybe this time I cut

Too deep

But my brain hasn’t processed the pain yet.

Maybe this time when I

Fall asleep

By brain won’t wake me up to greet the morn...

He Waits

He waits within your mind, walking the waters of your consciousness.

He waits in that deep grey void, cloaked by a dark obscurity.

He waits for you to see him, to know him, to greet him.

And when you do, he takes you down a path.

Will you brave this road and come out his harbinger?

Or will you succumb to the storm behind him, huddling in fear from the fog?

Will you seek to see this man?

Or will...

The Illusion Of Power

Lightning flashes

Too close

Not close enough

Electricity prickled across my skin

I reach for it

Hungry for more

I touch the beautiful power

Ecstasy

Sweet fire running through my veins

And then,

Pain

Burning me from the inside out

A terrible mistake...

The Eventuality

The man stood, waiting. Just as he had for years.

At the start, there had been a voice screaming in his head, urging him to leave. It had argued that he had no real obligation to be here, that he was free to leave, that nobody would stop him.

Now, the voice had almost faded to a memory. It still haunted him sometimes, whispering that he could still leave.

It wasn’t that he truly ...

Shift

Damon didn’t know it at the time but he and his sister were to be forever changed.

**Alicia always wanted to fit in. She just wanted to be a normal, regular girl. **Sometimes normal isn’t an advantage. Fitting in isn’t always the right fit in this instance, what was regular simply wouldn’t allow for the adaptation they needed to survive.

Damon was the opposite. He understood that although fitting ...
