POEM STARTER
Submitted by Cheyenne King
Describe a moment in life which seems to last forever.
You could write this as a poem or story, or as a descriptive paragraph.
I’m Sorry
If this is what I’m going to be I’ll be it.
If this is my place I’ll stay.
I begged the world to help me,
Prayed to a god I don’t even believe in to _help me_.
I spent so long trying to hide it,
To hide _from_ it,
And this is what happens?
Fine.
I’m just annoyed I don’t know what’s sharp enough.
So I’m sorry I complain.
I’m sorry I’m a coward.
I’m sorry I’m lazy and useless and rude.
I’m so sorry you got me.
You deserved better.
And someday I’ll be gone,
Someday you won’t have to be burdened by me anymore.
Someday I’ll be brave enough, but that’s not today.
I’m sorry for being who I am,
I’m sorry for never being enough.
I’m sorry for everything I’ve ever done.
And I’m sorry that you might find out about this,
That it might become another thing you get hurt by.
But I already did that, didn’t I? Hurt you with it?
You already know, so what’s a few more lines?
I already have scars, so what’s a few more?
…I’m sorry I make excuses for my actions.
I’m so sorry.
