Write a poem with this theme in mind.
Beneath The Surface
Calm, collected, knowing
Thatâs what you see
On the surface of me
But whatâs happening
Beneath the surface?
Come and see
Iâm not calm
Anxious, scared worried
Those three words describe me
Iâm not collected
My brain is scattered
Completely and utterly scattered
Iâm not knowing
Iâm clueless
On what to do and say
Thatâs beneath the surface
Iâll keep wearing the mask
You never have to know my real feelings
In real life
No one sees the
Real me
They see the
Mask I put on
To be normal
Online
People also donât see
The real me
They see a
Carefully crafted
Version of me
Iâm the only one
Who sees
The real me
Crazy, loud, quiet
Weird, magic-believing, creative
Dark, somtimes dirty, fun loving
Me They donât know
How many meals I skip
Because Iâm âbusyâ or ânot hungryâ
They donât know
How many times Iâve ignored
Because people donât care
They donât know
How long I stay in my fictional worlds
Because there feels like home more than my actual house does
They donât know
How much I talk to myself
Because I need a friend
They donât know
How much pain Iâm going through
When Iâm so alone and lonely
They donât know
About my struggling in pain
Because I donât let them see
All of that
Is beneath the surface
Hidden under my carefully crafted mask
