Caught

We leaned up against the wall, and I had no idea what was going to happen next.

Then she’s gone.

Shot dead.

My mother is on the ground covered in blood and I’m covering Aelin’s mouth so she doesn’t cry.

My mother died so we don’t get caught.

We will not get caught.

(Based off of my WOF series)...

A Bloodseal

“You did what?!”

Zalina and I were sprinting through the streets of Tanden, ducking under hanging signs and weaving between carts while the guards thundered after us. I clipped a fruit stand and nearly went down in a pile of bruised oranges, but managed to stay upright.

Zalina moved like smoke beside me, flickering in and out of sight—her ability doing its thing. She was there, then not, then th...

The Stranger

Amanda’s evening had been uneventful until her attention was wholly captured by the glow of her mobile. The deaf girl was completely absorbed in the messages and images streaming across her screen, so much so that she failed to notice the narrow, shadow‐clad alleyway beckoning at the side of the busy street. In one heartbeat, her quiet routine was shattered.

From the darkness of the alley, a man...

The Switch

We leaned up against the wall, and I had no idea what was coming next.

“Ok, now stand.” Miranda led by example.

The twins and I stood. Miranda and the twins seemed to be suppressing giggles. I didn’t like it. I looked around the room, hoping that none of my other friends were watching as I made a fool of myself, by following Miranda’s commands in her strange game.

“Now step to your left.” Miranda...

Behind The Mask Of An Old Friend

Mac and I have been friends since we were kids, I have known him for as long as I can remember. Our parents were friends, and we were neighbors, him just living across the stream in our back yard. We would always go there and talk, or just to sit in silence. We were close, inseparable, for nearly a decade, until when I was about 14, and Mac moved away. His family seemingly disappeared anonymously,...

Bar And The Wall

I leaned up against the wall

With no clue woth what is coming next

Trying to hold on to the bar

That is fragile and will break

When I break

Doing jumps

And exercises

Learning

Leaning against the wall

To keep me from breaking

Thats life

We all have that bar

To hold

The might break

But we keep it intact

Or hide very well

So others don’t notice the broken bar

And when we lean against th...

Chased

We ran for what seemed like forever, my little sister and I. What had started as our usual battle practice with swords in the woods, had turned into a flee for our lives back into town. Being chased at high speeds unexpectedly was not my idea of fun.

“Castor, please.” My little sister whimpered. “I have to stop.” Sometimes I forget that her little nine year old legs aren’t as strong as my fift...

The Baking Club

By: Hannah Thompson

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Claire and she loved baking with her mom when she was younger. But now, she can cook by herself-so she cooks a lot of things, such as Muffins, Pancakes, Cakes, and more! Let’s now fast forward to today: It was a typical Saturday morning and Claire had just woke up. No other family members were awake. She was thinking about making an a...

Unalive Death

The apocalypse wasn't as portrayed in the movies. There was no main character saving people left and right from their untimely demise. Mainly, it was isolation fermenting in the feelings of displacement.

It was a society governed by the public's own fear. There were no governments. There was no reason to trouble anyone with such pointless matters. What good would a government do in a wor...

Reach

the fire crept up against our legs, as i further reached for pegs spread about the king sized bed but fail once again. The gem is what it held adjacent to the peg, the gem that would stop the fire that slowly wept from the dresser head. She whimpered with fear, my own i held within. This was one of the many riddles we had faced in order to evade. The mere brave facade having been kept up, while on...
