Writing Prompt

Some of my pieces are missing, lost in the pockets of others or hidden beneath another piece. I’m a jigsaw where the final image is unexplainably wrong in the most subtle ways. The colors are too bright for this corner, the center is not meant to be shaped that way. But that’s the way I put myself together, and surely that is good enough, isn’t it?

Every person who

I have met

Or will ever meet

has contributed a piece to me

But they don’t click.

A puzzle doesn’t quite work

Because every piece fits together neatly

A puzzle has borders

A mosaic is never-ending

Always changing

Edges undefined

Swirling colors reflecting under

different lights

So maybe I’m a mosaic of everyone

I have met

Or will ever meet...

I am but a puzzle,

of strange peices picked up along my way.

They do not fit perfectly,

but manage to keep their shape.

Creating a mish-mashed painting,

Glimpses of anything I’ve ever wanted to be....

There’s many pieces to me that you Have yet to discover

And and it’s not for you to understand so you can stop trying

I used to ask myself why am I not good enough but eventually i stopped, i could no longer question, and sit around a hover

Over why I cannot satisfy you, and i won’t keep lying,

To myself for your own benefit that i am not good enough

Like my kindness, my love for art and animals, or the fact that I tear up at least once a day watching videos of other’s love on TikTok.

You like that I can find joy in most situations, always showing up with a smile on my face.

You like that I’m a child at heart, someone who loves Disney, creativity, and imagination.

I am far from ordinary more with a complex mindset I’m not strong or weak somewhere in between I’m left often alone to ponder with my thoughts I’m a mythical creature created by god himself a body hallow yet filled with a spirit that controls my mind a hallow body that moves like the wind I’m Intertwined with nature as I’m the grass below your feet and the air that you breathe I fill you...

Big and minuscule,

Wildy shaped, contrasting,

I don’t know what will fit me,

I connect what feels right,

Why does it feel wrong-

Why am I a puzzle?

I’d hate to be incorrect,

I want to be like other puzzle sets,

Who have themselves solved,

But my own pieces,

Draw out my own image,

I feel weird when it’s different from others,

It’s overwhelming,

As you scavenge through mountains, piles,

A puzzle has many parts,

Each coloured for a purpose.

Needing patience for the start,

To finish a picturesque circus.

I want to say I’m contrasting,

But my window views are cracked.

Time away is passing,

Intrusive thoughts haunt and tracked.

Why must I be ashamed?

I fear those who are offended.

So many to be blamed,

For the trauma they have blended.

Smash them into pieces,

Ignore me in the hust...

Come here, stay

I don’t want to be alone

I am but a puzzle

In pieces on my own...
