Oblivious to myself

My love
My hate
Things I call myself
Are but… people
With different lives
Lives I do not recognize
For I am but a puzzle
To myself...
Mama warned me.
Do not play with fire
I listened
Mama was always right
Except
When the time came
I didn’t recognize it…
The fire
It tickled
Made me laugh
Whispered to me
Swept me
Too late -
I was burnt
Before I saw the flame
Ashes…
Is all I am
Is all I leave
With you
My dancing flame...
