As the Deer Cried Dry Tears

Rosenbow

1 min read

Grieving still the loss of her innocence

Although through many years and trials it has gone away

She cries dry tears

For she has used all of them up

And she still thinks of him

As she gazes into her reflection from the bridge

No ripples to represent

The sorrow that flows through her being

And there she sits

Wind blowing from her eyes

Soft reflections dancing in them

Too tired for tears

She thin...

Report 456: The Space Between Stars

Rosenbow

1 min read

There's definitely a bit of emptiness between stars. Yes, if you don't look closely enough, that's all you'll find. It's dark in space, and cold, too. It threatens to overtake you if you let it. But if you just relax and look closely, you will find something else.

Tiny civilizations live on the comets that shoot past you. If you grab one (woe to your hands) you can watch them go about their days....

I trust the Lord

Will bring me through

If that is what

He wants to do

And if not

_Thump._

_Thump._

_Thump._

Can you stop that please?

_What, stop beating? If I stop beating, you will die._

Your sound is grating to my ears. The thump thump thump is like nails on a chalkboard on top of thirteen elephants stomp stomp stomping. Stop stomping, I can't take it anymore!__

_You think too much. Quiet yourself, and peace will follow._

I can't. You are hurting me by keeping me ali...

You did always believe that you were special.

I remember one night you lay awake, staring wide-eyed up at the starry sky, reaching toward it with an outstretched hand. I watched as your lips moved, capturing each bright object and putting it into the little box you crafted out of sticks and paper. You then sealed up the box forever.

Always talking, never ceasing to think, you'd run open-armed in...

Deceit

Rosenbow

1 min read

Scrolling down the aisle of deceit

That is the lifeless brick in front of me,

I find myself face to face with a simple truth:

I've never thought about how much I could lose.

And I don't stop to ponder on it for long,

Because the thought is pushed out by another song.

It promises wealth and joy and pain,

So I let go of my mind again and again.

I gamble with time, with money, with hurt,

I try as I...

Journey

Rosenbow

So this is the price of magic. I should've known.

He told me I'd be broken by the end of my journey. Told me I'd lose everything.

Why in the _world_ did I still go?

Marcus is gasping for air. He looks at me, eyes pleading. The hole in his chest is already too large. I watch my hands raise the sword again. I try to stop, but they don't listen to me anymore.

"Please..." My sword connects with hi...

Star-soaked Demise

Rosenbow

1 min read

Stepped out of my spaceship mid-flight

Into the teary, star-speckled sky

Black as night but bursting with color

Found myself falling into a slumber

But it wasn't a slumber, you see,

I'd forgotten my helmet, silly me!

Frightened as the air was sucked out of my lungs

A sinking feeling settling in my tum

Stardrops dancing in front of my eyes

Laughing as they watched me die

Floating about in a teary...

Life

I watch the truck drive away. It gets smaller and smaller as time passes. A clock ticks behind me, a steady, soft rhythm. Its tempo keeps me sane, but also drives me crazy.

My arms rest on the window sill. My mother watches me. She comes up behind me and gives me a hug and tells me things are going to be okay. I don't believe her.

All the other kids' dads showed up for career day. Except for on...

I am not your expectations

Rosenbow

1 min read

Creation looks at me,

Painfully frozen in place

A tear flowing down her soft cheek

I kiss her lips

She is standing behind me

Flowing, moving, free,

Unbound by the expectations

I used to capture her

"I am not who you believe me to be,"

She says to me

Eyes shrouded in darkness

Hair falling past her shoulders to the floor

I stare at my creation

Her gentle, happy eyes

Her short, bright hair

I smil...
