POEM STARTER
Submitted by Maranda Quinn
Write a poem from the perspective of someone who obviously hates — or is just extremely bad at — poetry.
Try to consider why someone may feel pressured to write a poem. Love? A school project?
She’s Gonna Reject Me As Soon As She Reads This…
Red as an apple,
Bright and… dapple?,
You make my cheeks red,
I love your… head,
Violets are very blue,
So, so… so blue,
Like your nice blue orbs,
That make me go shalorb.
Sugar is sweet,
You’re a box of treats,
That I wanna eat,
Because you look like a tootsie roll to me.
I do love you,
I don’t know what to do,
_Something something_ flight,
_Um… What else should I write?_
Um… I hope you smile,
And stay a while,
Written for you only, alright?,
I love you tonight.
_This sucks…_

(I’m not good at writing anything humorous at all, but I wanted to try something different! This was kinda fun to write! I hope you enjoyed it!)
