Swallow back the words,

Syllables I can’t say,

Choking me as I lie,

And pretend I’m okay.

Hidden behind all these walls,

Lost in my own mind,

Thoughts, oh so many thoughts,

Each one a reason I’m not fine.

Guilt fills my gut,

Because I know I should tell the truth,

But all I can think of,

Is how much I have to lose.
