Shuddering, the boy hides behind the outdated leather recliner.

“Come on out noooowwwww” a gruff voice threatens.

From under the chair, the boy sees two black buckled boots stomping right by him.

“Come out come out wherever you are” the voice says in a sing-song tone.

Why? Why of all days does this have to happen on Christmas?

The boy curls up tighter as he watches the figure scour the room getting closer and closer to his hiding spot.

“There you are boy!” Says the figure.

A fat, rosey man plucks the child up from behind the chair.

“You really thought you could hide from me?”

The man tickles the boy.

“Go on, your mama said it’s about your bedtime.”

“Yes, Uncle Jim!” The boy says as he runs up the stairs.
