POEM STARTER
Submitted by Maranda Quinn
They say forgiveness is a virtue, but I’d rather keep my anger.
Use this line as inspiration for a poem.
Anger?
I remember every little thing.
Every tiny detail is there;
Embedded in my memory.
Tried to open up about that.
Tried to get you to understand.
Tried to sympathize with you.
You wouldn’t listen,
Had your own thoughts.
So I listened to your rants.
You say anger is a closed door.
I say it’s what gets them open,
It’s what tears them off hinges.
You say anger is an evil thing.
I say only evil deserves my anger.
I don’t hand it out like candy for kids.
You said I’m not pretty when I’m mad.
Why’d you go and make it that way?
I don’t have to be pretty to you!
You said angry girls are like gates.
Babe, that’s what holds these horses.
I wouldn’t complain about anything.
Because you know what I’d say?
It takes one to know one.
I won’t hold my tongue.
If you want a girl without anger…
Hah, get a man. They’re hot.
‘Cause baby boo bop:
You said my anger was like Hell burning.
It’s the closest the right you’ve came.
