WRITING OBSTACLE

Craft a story where each sentence begins with the successive letter of the alphabet, starting with A.

The story can be about whatever you like, but try to make it coherent and logical as you carefully choose words to start each sentence.

Born a Ghost, Die a Ghost

Acid burning in our throats,

But the fire’s in our hearts.

Can’t run from tomorrow, so we

Die in its arms.

Even hell hears us scream.

Freedom does not equal peace.

Give a wolf a knife, it’ll still use its teeth.

Had I known death was waiting for us,

I’d have done anything

Just to keep it waiting.

Kill all things, and seek salvation.

Long ago, I prayed for change—

Maybe that’s why the ground is shaking.

No one has ever bled like you (he says).

Only my hands can heal (he says).

Pseudonyms and bitter, half-bitten fruit,

Questionable alliances and harsh truths.

Right is right when wrong is wrong.

Sometimes escaping means dying—

That’s why the chains are so strong.

Underneath the metal is flesh and bone,

Victims of ourselves; do we truly belong?

When we found dirt and called it home,

Xs over our eyes—we might’ve been alone.

You saw me cry. I begged you to stay.

Zoning out won’t change fate.
