POEM STARTER

‘Dawn still rises, slowly, stubbornly.’

Write a poem with a consistent structure, concluding with this line. You can choose any style for your poem, but it should be one that employs a consistent structure.

Untitled.

I hate everyone at the moment,

Maybe not everyone, but it feels like it,

It’s nice for a while to just walk away,

But when I come back, it just hits harder,

I’m tired of returning so quick,

My stomach’s churning, I feel so sick;

It’s a headache that relentlessly throbs.

Apathetic souls weigh down on me,

Joining the substantial weight of inferiority,

Agitated and aggravated,

At even what I hold close to my heart,

Maybe I’m a ticking time bomb,

Who can’t stand anything,

And what to do, it doesnt know,

Everyone makes an escape just the same

As reality’s cruel world,

Negativity has filled my stomach,

And I bite my lip to not spew it out.

Gifts of reassurance I don’t need,

And a gentle embrace of gaiety,

Is what really makes me sick,

And I want to make it through the day,

Where the people leave me in the dark

But dawn still rises, slowly, stubbornly.
