Society prepares you for romantic break ups
You ugly cry
You eat ice cream
You rant and scream
You delete all evidence of them
You watch trash TV with your friends
No one prepares you for best friend break ups
Because all those things you would do
if it were a boyfriend or girlfriend drifting away
You’d want to do with them
Your best friend
But what do you do when they’re the ones
Floating away
Just out of reach
I don’t know how to do this without you
Did I push you out to sea?
Or did you choose board the boat yourself?
This is gonna make me bawl 😭 like just admit it you hate me😭😭😭

This is a really great way to put it in to words. Best friend breakups are awful, i know how you feel. I’m sorry you are going through this.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately—it’s so difficult especially because society unfortunately doesn’t value friendship as much as romance, so, while everyone feels bad for someone going through a breakup, they’re quick to diminish the hurt of losing a best friend because they were “just a friend,” which I hate so much. Anyway I’m sorry you’re going through this 💛 and I love your writing as usual 🫶🫶
