POEM STARTER
You are out walking when you see a person sitting alone on a bench under a Willow tree, crying. Write a poem about them.
This could be written as though you are observing the person but not interacting, or as though you have approached the person and offered to help.
Breakup
Wind swept hair
Salty tears
Mascara running down her face
Yet I had never seen someone so beautiful
My heart skipped a beat
Breathing in and out
Without a doubt
I had to know who she was
I walked over
Slowly taking steps
Planning out what I would say
In my head
She looked up at me
Her blue eyes
Filled with despair and not glee
And asked who is thee
I announced my name
Asked if she was ok
But the tears came harder
And she burried her face
Through muffled sobs
I heard her small voice
Reaching out to me
I could rejoice
I reached out and held her hand
As she explained about a man
She had been broken up with
What a tragic day
But she was okay
I held her in my arms
She explained the details
Through anger and sorrow
And she told me her name
Celeste
She said
Like the stars
above your head
I told her it was beautiful
Just like her face
And she wrapped me in a warm embrace
I get this out of grace
We talked about stars
About love and about pain
But we had to go our separate ways
And continue our days
I still think about her now
Because I havent seen her
Since that day
In the spring
I hope she is doing better
And I hope
Oh god I hope
That to her, the world isn’t quite as mean
