You could write it out for them,

And prove they can’t read,

You can shout it aloud,

And they wouldn’t hear, you see,

And I wouldn’t believe

That I’m wasting my breath.

You could be serious,

And they stay mulish,

Try to light up your world

With a forest fire— I’d wish,

I’m not just shouting to

The void that seems deaf.

Losing my mind,

Wasting my time,

“Feel less sublime”,

Is what they’d scream,

Over top of me.
