The event went so well and I have been given permission to share this, so I introduce you guys to “not all that glitters is gold”

**Setting: A program room in a library, where several incredibly talented teens have been selected to showcase their artwork. There is a decent sized crowd, as there has been a month's notice for the event. **

**Characters:**

**Gregory Kemp (First name means watchful): Fern L.**

**Gregory is a 16 year old boy, particularly good at deep insightful painting. He doesn't talk much, but he is always watching and listening. He is smart, but not many people know that.**

**Drogo Reid (First name means ghostly; a phantom): Stephen J.**

**Drogo is a 14 year old boy who no one really knows much about, but they always notice he is there, that is, until he went missing. He is particularly good at historical art.**

**Sandra Pierpoint (first name means helper of mankind): Kim C.**

**Sandra is a sweet girl who is 15. She does oil paintings of flowers and landscapes. She is an avid reader. She notices everything and is always there.**

**Camilla Thompson (First name means priest attendant): Peyton T.**

**Camilla is a brat, she is 17 and always thinks she can get what she wants. She is mean to everyone. But she is amazing at portraits of both people and animals. She is sassy, snarky, and honestly quite cruel.**

**Jay Pascal (First name means a violet flower): Tyler F.**

**Jay is a 15 year old boy, who only does art in purple.He uses several mediums but is particularly fond of pencils and natural paints. He is bubbly and kind, and always brings treats to his art showings.**

**Abby Thompson (First name means my fathers delight): Grace K.**

**Abby is 15 and is Camilla Thompson's little sister. Not only do they look different, they don't act alike at all. Abby is kind hearted, and a bit of an airhead, she is a huge fan of cheesy rom coms and usually paints or sketches romantic scenes. She is 15, but incredible at art**

**Juno Hartley (first name means queen): Audrey D.**

**Juno is the woman who organized the event at the library. She is rather well known in the town and is incredibly respected. Most people are scared of her. She enjoys art and encourages others to enjoy it to.**

**_Act 1_**

_The scene starts with the teens at their art stations, fixing any last details on their pieces as Juno stands at a podium in the center of the room._

Narrator: We start at the Farmville Public Library, where you see several teens preparing their art for the show. We have Gregory Kemp_ (Gregory waves)_, Sandra Pierpoint _(Sandra waves)_, Camilla Thompson _(Camilla waves begrudgingly)_, Jay Pascal _(Jay waves enthusiastically)_, and Abby Thompson _(Abby waves)_

Juno Hartley:_(Clears throat)_ Welcome welcome to our art show. I am so happy you all are here to see our talented teens to show you their pieces. Without further ado, I will allow the children to introduce themselves._ (Steps away from podium)_

Gregory Kemp:_ (awkwardly walks over to the podium and adjusts the microphone)_ Hello everyone _(clears throat)_ My name is Gregory Kemp and I am sixteen years old. _(shuffles)_ Um, that piece over there is mine, I call it “A day in paradise” _(points to a painting done in red, black, and grey oil pastels, depicting a saddening image) _

_(Juno Hartley looks at a list she is holding and gestures towards Sandra Pierpoint) _

Sandra Pierpoint : _(tucks a piece of hair behind her ear)_ Hi guys. My name is Sandra Pierpoint, and I am fifteen years old. That piece over there is mine._ (She gestures towards an oil painting of a field of flowers)_

_(Juno Hartely looks at a list she is holding and gestures towards Camilla Thompson)_

Camilla Thompson: _(scowls and drags herself over to the podium)_ Yo. My name is uh… Camilla Thompson and I am like seventeen  I guess _(puts hands in hoodie pocket) _That piece is mine_ (she jerks her head towards a portrait of a woman wearing silk robes)_

_(Juno Hartley looks at a list she is holding and gestures towards Jay Pascal)_

Jay  Pascal: _(grins)_ Hey you guys, my name is Jay Pascal and I am 15, fun fact I only use mediums in purple. _(He points towards a canvas displaying a mystical cat being abducted in all shades of purple)_

_(Juno Hartley looks at a list she is holding and gestures towards Abby Thompson)_

Abby Thompson:_ (adjusts her top)_ Good evening, how are you all doing tonight? My name is Abby Thompson and I am 15._ (she smiles Overly wide ) _That piece over there is mine _(she points at a gorgeous painting of two people on a  date)_

_(Juno Hartley looks at a list she is holding and furrows her eyebrows, a confused expression crossing her face)_

Juno Hartley _(Nervously_): I am so sorry ladies and gentleman but we need to take a five minute break.

_(The teen artists exchange worried glances and walk towards Juno Harley)_

Juno Hartley: Have any of you seen Drogo Reid?

Narrator: None of us have seen him Juno

Abby Thompson _(in a genuine tone_): Maybe he is in the bathroom, his piece is over there (_She dramatically points at a piece depicting two fighting knights)_

Jay Pascal: _(He cocks his head)_ Guys look at this. He walks towards the painting. (_he points at the knife wedged into one of the knights) _

Gregory Kemp: _(Color drains from face) _Is that, Blood?

Abby Thompson and Sandra Pierpoint: _(Scream in unison)_

Camilla Thompson:_ (Rolls her eyes)_ Oh shut your little faces, it's probably just paint. _(She reaches out to touch the red, and recoils immediately)_

Abby Thompson: _(Her eyes wide)_ It's shiny, is it glitter glue? Or gold?  _(she asks with enthusiasm)_

Juno Hartley: _(an eerily calm expression on his face)_ All that glitters is not gold my dear girl.

**_Act 2 (brief)_**

Abby Thompson:Well, shouldn't we go find him? 

Juno Hartley: You are right girl _(nods head)_

Sandra Pierpoint: We should check all over the library

Gregory Kemp: Oh yes so specific Sandra _(rolls eyes)_

Juno Hartley: Now children, don’t fight

Camilla Thompson _(with arms crossed)_: Well let's go look then

Narrator: Everyone please stand and exit the room

_(everyone stands and exits the room, the cast leading the group)_

_(First go to the desk, where a staff member looks shocked and says they last saw Drogo at 7:30, going to the teen section)_

_(Juno Calls Drogo's name, with no answer)_

Juno Hartley: Ok, the kind staff member said to check the teen area

Jay Pascal: _(shoves forward) *screams*_

Juno Hartley: Now girl no need to scream _(turns corner) (face drains of color)_

Narrator: And this is when everyone realized, that Drogo had died a tragic death, you may step forward to view, but please no touching, talking, or flash photography

_(The participants are given slips of paper and pencils)_

_(The cast and participants get 5 minutes to examine the scene and write down clues)_

_(Everyone goes back the the meeting room where the cast is allowed to be questioned on where, when, what, why, and how)_

**_Motives_**

Gregory Kemp: Drogo was always the “best” to our art teachers, then the one time my art was better, he destroyed it and he won our contest.

Sandra Pierpoint: Drogo was my best friend at one point, that is until he fell in love with Jay and ghosted me.

Camilla Thompsom: I am going to be clear, I hate everyone. But Drogo was worse, he bad-mouthed everyone, and spoiled my favorite book series.

Jay Pascal: Drogo fell in love with me, but I didn't love him back. He couldn't take the hint and thought I was playing hard to get. I couldn't breathe without him thinking it meant something.

Abby Thompson; I thought Drogo was nice, but he was always saying bad things about my art, and even stole my idea and turned it into his own. Then he called me insane when I called him out

Juno Hartley: Drogo has a rich father, always bribing him into competitions and shows. But Drogo never stopped him, he even once mailed a threatening letter to my personal address and that is the only reason his piece is in the show today.

Gregory Kemp:

-I never left the meeting room (Live streamed setting up his art station) (where)

-I saw Drogo leave the room at 7pm(when)

-Sure I didn't like him, he destroyed my art and was always top of the class (why)

Camilla Thompson:

-I left the meeting room twice, once to check out a book, and once to throw something away(where)

- I saw him leave but I don’t remember when (when)

- He spoiled the end of my favorite book series(why)

- I heard it was a knife(what)

- I heard he was stabbed in the abdomen (how)

- You are guilty, you may not lie about anything(lie)

Jay pascal:

-I never left the meeting room, I was greeting people at the entrance (where)

-I greeted Drogo at 6pm and saw him leave around 7pm(when)

- I didn't really like him, he kept making advances on me(why)

- I heard it was something sharp(what)

-I heard he was cut or stabbed(how)

-If you believe you are guilty you may lie about one thing(lie)

Abby Thompson:

-I never left the meeting room, I was finishing my painting (where)

-I wasn't paying attention, I never saw Drogo(when)

-He stole my art idea, but I forgave him(why)

-I heard it was scissors(what)

-I heard he was cut or stabbed(how)

Juno Hartley:

-I got here as the teens were setting up, around 6:45pm(where)

-Drogo was not there when I arrived (when)
