watching NCIS like it’s making me money,

but I play violin and practice karate

am I even enough?

I think Cupid messed up.

He pulled an arrow,

shot it without thinking.

Now I’m outta luck.

Eyes that linger, snaking around,

hissing toxicity, for crying out loud-

Cupid, why did I have to be found?

taunting me, with a monster’s kiss-

Post-It notes on the pale walls,

that one, blue stubborn painting

that won’t stay, that only falls,

the writer sitting sleepily,

hair in a bun, hands holding

a phone lighting up the room.

a woman driving at high,

high speeds, going vroom-vroom.

But in reality, she

only stares, scrolls forever.

Mr. Donald W

walks into a flower shop.

He glances at all the flora,

before settling on his pick.

Always the same one,

always the hydrangeas,

“For my little Mia,”

he murmurs quietly.

The co-workers smile,

some genuine, others not.

But Mr. Donald W

makes sure his little girl’s

flowers never rot.

Every day, the same lot,

the same color,

the same flower.

Mr. Donald grows older,
