Help! Advice heavily needed!!
I’m trying to write something for my friend on her birthday but I’m struggling.
Usually I just write in free verse but I really want to do a rhyming one for this. Personally I think when I try to rhyme it comes off as childish and emotionless. So if you all have any advice or any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!
Edit: thank you all for giving your input! I shared it with her and she loved it. I just added one more stanza so I’ll put the finished product here:
For four years we’ve known each other as friends Through life’s ups and downs there is still no sight of an end
Through the nights of never ending darkness When life was often heartless Through the blinding brightness from the rays of the sun I have never stopped loving you no matter the reason No matter the time of day We have always chose to stay
In the late night talks The flirting that never stops With the kindness of your heart And your brain that’s just so smart
You are the moon to my stars The bandaid on my scars You light me up inside as if you were the sun and I was the blue sky needing your everlasting light You always shine so bright
To you my love Your voice is as beautiful to me as a morning dove And your thoughts are as soft as a cool breeze on a day in the spring With a love that always leaves me smiling
