POEM STARTER
Write a poem about someone dancing, that portrays the movements and atmosphere of their dance.
It doesn't necessarily have to be fluid and elegant dance; they could be portraying something else with their movements. You could focus on any aspect that is rich in description and can be reflected in your writing style.
The Ballet Dancer
També pâti borée, glissade, jeté.
The ballet dancer,
Each move she takes gracefully.
And yet,
Her essence carries past her body.
The audience is mesmerized,
Each move she makes,
Painting a tale.
Hands held strong,
Her physique poised,
Head high,
Arms fluttering through the movements.
Moving into croisée devant, she preps for her turn,
Then pirouettes.
Occasionally, she open to a la seconde turns,
Always in control.
Next she flys across the stage,
Seeming like a bird,
Her jumps always high.
Jeté, soté, tor jeté.
She climbs higher into the sky with each move.
And then finally,
She is done,
Settling into her final pose,
Her smile ever elegant.
