POEM STARTER
Submitted by Maranda Quinn
They say forgiveness is a virtue, but I’d rather keep my anger.
Use this line as inspiration for a poem.
“valuable” virtues
My anger is my weapon
It’s what motivates me
To keep getting up every day
But forgiveness and anger
Are not mutually exclusive
I can know I’m in the wrong
But hate you anyways
I can know I’m in the right
And still blame myself
Could I even still remember
If I really, really tried
How it felt before I died
Before the world fried my mind
And now I cannot stand asking why
Why should it matter
If the situation keeps getting sadder
Don’t flatter me
I keep the innocence of Alice
And the sanity of the Hatter
My mind is a constant
Echo of duality
I am a brave coward
With mechanical flowers
Growing inside my heart
I am an idiot
Who is so so smart
My anger is forgiving
And so I won’t give it up for
A virtue that someone else
Decided was valuable.
