POEM STARTER
Write a poem that has a whimsical mood.
The word whimsical is defined as being playfully fanciful, especially in an appealing way. What kind of language would you use to portray this?
A Fairy’s Song Of Longing.
You and I are butterflies,
That mingle with grass and fly,
Warm as day, pie and morn light,
Though I wish you’re here this night.
With lips like the velvet petals around,
Your presence is like the clover I found,
Without you, my luck, I feel so hurt,
You’re not a gnome, don’t hide in the dirt.
I choke on fairy dust and wait,
On this rosy flat, I still wait,
For you to come, my saving grace,
Live with me in a far, far place.
As tranquil as a blue jay’s tweets of song,
I’m its hue but too sad to sing along,
Idle fireflies in outer space,
I wish upon them with frowns on my face.
Have I squished ladybugs under my feet?,
Because this lack of luck keeps me defeat,
Can you please, please soon come back to me?
The tree door’s always open, stay with me.
(If you want to sing this in your head as a song, you can, it’s just the last two stanzas would be the chorus)
