Over the hill and far way

With a beautiful sky so blue

I look up and my mind is filled

With only loving thoughts of you

I see you in the clouds

I see you in my mind

I wish you were here with me

Why did you leave me behind

To a better place I know you went

It doesn’t make it easier this day

I can’t wait to see you again

It should have been me

We lay upon the dew-kissed grass.

Embraced in passion, ever free,

A moment too precious to ever last.

The fleeting hours, a stolen fire,

Consumed us in its golden gleam.

But like a dream, or heart's desire,

It faded with the morning's beam.

Through empty fields where laughter died.

driving away from my home

my nails dig into the wheel

acres for my soul to roam

the salt stings my eyes

and my phone won’t stop ringing

my mother would be so disappointed

but i’m far from her upbringing

push my foot down

the cameras are all clicking

but i don’t care now

the clock is still ticking

pass the graveyard

the ghosts call my name

arms reach out to touch me

to join...

“How are you?”, I ask

Are you well now that you left?

When you finally find happiness,

The same claim many people swore,

Everyone chases their goals, ambitions, and desires

Of the glittering horizon of the world,

Most are unable to climb it

For ‘Over the Hill’ is obscured and furled

There is always the edge

Poppies bloomed along with pride,
