The Rain

In the rain, I stand

Stranded

Without a ride

A stranger runs up

With an umbrella

Looking like a Phoenix in the dim light

Standing alone in the rain

Without cover

Let It Rain

As I wait for the lights, it starts to rain down.

_Pop_ the umbrella I’ve been lugging around town.

To my left is a woman, clothes ratty and old.

As a strong gust picks up, she is shivering cold.

Bullets of water slam into her face,

My expensive suit remains perfect in place.

As I look at this woman I think of my mother,

Poor, unprepared — I offer some cover.

She smiles at me meekly and tucks h...

Under The Lovely Purple Umbrella

He stares, she stares. “Sorry”. She walks away, he walks behind. Ten minutes later, “Did you wanna say something back there?” “WTH!” She speedwalks inside her house. He waits outside for a few seconds, then turns around and leaves. The next day she steps out side . “Shoot I forgot my umbrella.” She grabs it and stares at it for a few seconds. Flashbacks of last night cross her mind. She heads to w...

Lady in the Rain

Rain was expected today.

A blown out engine wasn’t.

I swiped my umbrella up on the way out.

Her hair peppered and face expressionless.

I notice the tremble in the woman’s silhouette.

Golden Eyes And A Warm Smile

I ran, trying to find shelter.

Using my new jacket as an umbrella.

It coveres my eyes, I couldn’t see where I was going.

Then, I ran into you.

You cought me before I could fall, holding me against you.

You look down at me, I look up at you, and our eyes meet.

I have never seen such a beautiful brown, gold flecks in them.

Dancing.

I catch myself thinking of what they would look like in the sun.

Intimate Strangers

As the raindrops pebble above our shared umbrella

Laughter bubbles at the surface, ready to spill over

Our toes are surely still wet from traipsing through puddles

But I hardly notice, I’m entranced by this stranger I’ve just barely met

Electricity zings where our shoulders meet

She looks up at me with perfect hazel greens

Framed by dark Lucious lashes

I can’t help it, my breath catches

Princess Moment

I woke up ready to seize the day

My energy rumbling, ready to play.

My daily walk to the nearby park.

Got interrupted when the sky went dark.

I felt droplets land on my hands.

My head now up, glancing at the lands.

The rain now feeling awfully aggressive.

Made my energy feel low and depressive.

My head now soaked and clothes drenched.

My aura now dimmed as my body wrenched.

Then out of thin air,...
