POEM STARTER
Two strangers caught in the downpour share an umbrella.
Craft a poem or short story around this idea.
Interlude
God, I fear today
I am at risk of
Spontaneous combustion
How quick am I to cry
To be moved to tears
At the thought of love lost
Simple conversation
Menial question, small talk,
Just as simply
The voice starts to crack,
A well erupts
And you hide your face
Or, no.
Give it shelter.
A part of me believes we live in the only universe boomerangs could feasibly exist.
I relent-
Maybe it’s amazement.
But we have each other
To commend memories,
And smother nothing
Nothing ever has to hurt more than twice
So
When the rain comes
Won’t you stand under my umbrella with me?
Old memory of mine.
New stranger.
