The First One Who Loved Me

Savanna Chase

1 min read

Everyone has one

Their first love you met

Who you left some way or another

They are the one who got away

Someone who knew your heart first

Who treasured your quirks

And understood your heart

They showed you what love looks like

The treatment you deserve

They may not be your forever

But they are always in your heart

Because you’ll never forget them...

Truth Is Beautiful

Savanna Chase

1 min read

Clouds cover cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes, but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies

Hiding the truth weighs down in my chest

Forced to keep a secret I never even made

But you were weak and embarrassed and that’s ok

But secrets must come undone at some point

Is it worth the anger, the resentment if we wait?

No as she deserves to know and not be lied to for 6 more years

The Burden Of Memory

Savanna Chase

1 min read

I bear the burden of

Of those memories

They scar my mind

And when people say “It made you stronger”

But a child shouldn’t have to be strong

We’re busy growing our bodies

Growing our brains to maturity

Learning to make mistakes

Not face abuse as consequences

I was unable to live those teen years

I barely scraped by, let alone enjoyed them

But here I am despite them

Not letting the weight get...

When Fog Settles Above The Widow

Savanna Chase

1 min read

The visibility is lacking

The thick fog hovering in front of me

I can’t see where I’m going

Or where I have left

My mind is grief stricken

And it’s hazy, not knowing what to do next

I’m sad and angry

But I want to go somewhere

Do something to take my mind off of it

That’s hard when and I can’t see what journey lies ahead

Or where I was last to compare

But I know when I do reach the destinati...

My Son Committed A Hit And Run

Savanna Chase

1 min read

What did you do?

You ran from the scene

Leaving someone injured

Maybe even left for dead

What did you do?

Fleed from the crime scene

Instead of waiting with the person

You sealed your fate

What did you do?

You lost your integrity

You made this fight a lose lose situation

Of course as your mom I still love you

But you must face the legal consequences

My sweet baby boy

What did you do?...

Less Like Those Around Me

Savanna Chase

1 min read

“I don’t want to stick out like a weed of wildflowers”

Wow does that line resonate

As the daughter of a helicopter during the 2000s

When classmates had more freedom

And wasn’t judged by friends they made

Or being forced to dress like her and act a certain way

I really didn’t understand

Because she shielded me not just from teenage hood

But from the real world, the chance to make mistakes

But ...

Running Away From Abduction

Savanna Chase

1 min read

Ruby red petals overhead

On display under the sky

I walk quickly through them

Only glancing as my fear overwhelms me

My cloak is also a deep red

And it drags along the dirt path

My breath shudders within me

I can hear footsteps closing in on me

I must get away from them

They will capture me and offer me for ransom

My precious father is that rich

And many know him to be wealthy

But i don’t know i...

Four Paws Trotted Into Our Hearts Vs

Savanna Chase

1 min read

How could something so small take up so much space in my heart

With four paws, one tail and a wet nose

A sweet face and adorable bark

This rescue of seven years old

Stole my heart when I met with him

I felt pulled to him like magnet

To a giant piece of metal

He came up to me and just looked like he needed us

Needed a home and parents to keep him safe

So I brought him with me

Much to Anthony’s c...

She Sees Her Old Self

Savanna Chase

1 min read

Looking back I see

The baby she was, so innocent

The teenager so lost and hurt

The young adult unsure of what was next

I knew every secret kept

I heard every word uttered in her mind

I felt every single bit of pain

She was all of those people at one time

Now she’s in her mid twenties

With years of knowledge gained

And recovery and Jesus healed her

But she reflects on what was

When reminding her...

Our Blood Claims Us

Savanna Chase

1 min read

When we were small

We were bound

One to good

And one to evil

Identical twins, with separate destinies

Fighting together, training as one

Until the side claimed them as theirs

One day she would be good and pure

One day the other sister would be evil

Time would come to battle one another

And until then

They are both walking on eggshells...
