„Oh shit!“ I hear a voice mutter next to me. „Dad won‘t be happy about this…“ I open my eyes to see a girl, whose age I can’t quite place, leaning over me, long dark hair with a few shimmering red and gold strands tied into a complex braid and pure black eyes. She was wearing a dark red collage jacket over a crop top and a black denim skirt. She was probably the prettiest girl I’d ever met, but I‘d never seen her before. „Where am I?“ I ask confused for a second, glancing around. Wherever we are, it looks nice, chunky black rock walls that seemed to sparkle, everything decorated with diamonds and precious metals. There was a red waterfall that turned into a river next to us that people on a boat seemed to be passing through, a nearly bored expression on their faces. „Oh, sorry. Welcome to hell! I‘m Lilith, and I was supposed to check you

in…“ I furrow my eyebrows. „What do you mean check me in? Where?“ She cringed. „Upstairs. But with the paperwork for your transfer, it might take a while to get you a spot there, you know cause of the virus situation. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but my sister Bella said that she heard they‘re rebuilding. Buuuut for the time being, you’re stuck here.“ She said all of that quite quickly, so it was hard to follow. Now that my brain had caught up I decided to say something very intelligent, interesting, intellectual.

„Huh?“ Perfect. „So… I‘m just… in Hell?“ Lilith smiled slightly „Don‘t worry, it’s not that bad! We got rid of the torture elements a long time ago, but we do still burn… bad people. Like, very bad. Judging by the fact that you aren’t supposed to be here I doubt you‘re one. Correct?“ I nod slowly. „Sooo…“

she pulls a clipboard out from god knows where, and starts flicking through the pages. „What did you say your name was?“

“Oh uhh Rylan Aprentin.”

“Ohuhrylan?”

“No, just Rylan.”

“I’m just messing with you.”

I feel myself blush.

“I knew that.”

Lilith rolls her eyes. “I found your file anyway. Died: September 13th, 2025. Cause of death: violent car accident. Sentenced to: Heaven. Checked in: Hell, September 13th, 2025, by Lilith Lucifer. Time to check into heaven: 24h”

“And checking in in heaven would take how long?”

“Oh, just a minute or two.”

I sigh, relieved.

“It’s just the journey that takes longer.”

I freeze.

“How much?”

She starts counting her fingers, looking into the air, talking a bit of jibberish… you know, an average solve for x equation.

“Maybe five, six hours.”

I relax again.

“Over deadline.”

Then, I start to scream.
