WRITING OBSTACLE
Eager. Astonishing. Engulf.
In a story of no more than 10 lines, use these three words in any order. Try not to randomly throw them in, but think about a storyline that allows you to link them all naturally.
Fire
The flames were eager.
Too eager, as they engulf the forest beside my house.
Our house.
Every penny poured into the barn red siding and that matching playhouse for Lincoln.
It was simply astonishing how quickly it happened. Simple, yet astonishing.
Reminding us how fire works, that fire thrives.
Not the controlled candle on the coffee table.
Real, hot, alive, and hungry.
How fast it was all gone, in a flash.
Everything eaten before the dinner bell rang.
