WRITING OBSTACLE
Eager. Astonishing. Engulf.
In a story of no more than 10 lines, use these three words in any order. Try not to randomly throw them in, but think about a storyline that allows you to link them all naturally.
Naïveté
I was eager: to have a friend, to have someone to trust, someone to rely on.
You were the perfect person, a kind exterior, outgoing, extremely talented in all you did.
It was astonishing, how you changed my life.
You were the one person I could count on, ever since we were young.
But we’re not young anymore.
Your outward appearance does not reflect the person you’ve become.
You make biting remarks, uncaring about others, not even realizing you hurt me as well.
I find myself engulfed in your cruelty, unable to fight back without outing myself to your ungraciousness.
I want to say you are my friend, I want to enjoy things with you, I want to take away your pain.
But your actions cannot be made up for, and I’m done wasting myself on you.
