The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
I like having pictures of you
I like hearing your laugh in my mind
I like how every night before I drift off I see you
I like your hair and the way it flows so effortlessly
I like your lips when they smile at me
I like everything about you
But there’s one thing. . .
That I love about you
I love what we had
I love how you made me feel
How our friendship
Felt like every other friendship
But more
How every thing you did meant something to me
How I could hear your voice even over email
How I could easily picture us. . . You and I
If I said I loved you
Would you even hear?
If I said not in a romantic way
Would you believe?
If I told you life without you was bland
What would you think?
That I’m head over heals for you?
That I can’t live without you?
What would you think, Damian
If I told you that everything reminds me of our friendship
What would you say?
Because right now all you are
Is a memory
A beautiful, sweet, happy, loving, great memory
But your also a burden
Because
I
Can’t
Get
Your
Words
Out
Of
My
Heart
