POEM STARTER

Write a poem based around the theme of Shattered Trust.

My Dying Conviction

Trust can be a fickle thing,

But mine is unrelenting.

There will always be some part,

That believes you can be a good person.

I want to believe you are a good person.

But I don’t think I can.

You throw away my faith in you,

Thinking that I’ll always bring it back.

I loathe that you’re right.

But what good person does this?

Forces someone to jump through hoops,

Just to stay in their good graces?

I see your smudged mascara,

See how you, to an extent, trust me.

Is it my job to fix you?

But how could I,

When you’re the one who shattered me?

Do I even want to try?

I’m trapped, tied to you.

I can’t leave after seeing your pain.

But I won’t let you break me,

Any more than you already have.

I can’t deny I’ve known you for so long,

We’ve been through so much.

But I don’t love you anymore.
