To let bridges burn

If it means I won’t be cold

Means I won’t be lonely

My head says wait for love

Persue your dreams

Further your education

Someone will come and put out the fire

Stay warm with your own spark

Till someone shares their light with you

My heart says to write

To fills books and endless pages with my words

To never stop speaking

Never let my voice go cold

My head says to stop for now

You can retrain your voice later

Focus now on your youth

for words don’t need to spout

at such a young age

My heart says to do what you love

To write to read and to love

To never let myself go cold

To find someone to hold

My head says do what is practical

Find a nice money making job

Put your light out just for now

And navigate this road in the dark

My heart says to do what I feel

To write my story

To speak what I know

To write about what I want

To not let others dull my shine

My head says to do what makes other happy

To fit into the little box that stiffles my light

The cold box filled with things that make other happy

That I have to join together in harmony

So I pick my heart

Because I want to find love

And I want to keep my light

I want to write the truth

And I want to be me
