POEM STARTER
Write a poem where the opening line is in a different language.
If you don't know another language you could look up a common phrase said in your language of choice that is linked to the theme of your poem.
Mea Maxima Culpa
(Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa)
Just one wrong step I took, one step that cost me everything
But it was too late when the glass shattered
It was too late when the strings suddenly tightened
and suddenly no one could save me
Maybe they weren't meant to
(Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa)
Words were just words, perhaps they were never meant to be used like arrows
But I am the one who stepped into the water, thinking it was shallow
and now I have to stitch back the pieces
or leave it all together :
Wear a face that was never mine
(Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa)
Maybe I should repeat those words to myself, because I know they are true
Silently grasping a concept that was far beyond my knowledge
But yet I still reached, and called your name
trying to form the words that would scream in my head
but silently drop from my lips
(Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa)
But still, what started unspoken remains unspoken
even if it must be ignored
Just drown out everything with work to be finished
And when you're done, go get some more
(Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa )
"My fault, my most grievous fault"
And once it goes, it will stay
Never leaving even if I wish it away
Until I force myself to forget
What all happened that day
