A forensic agent is forced to go on the run because of what they uncovered on their last case.
You Can Run
Ted sees the writing in blood next to the body that I left for him. It tells him that he is my next target. I even signed my signature at the bottom of my letter. It doesn’t get any clearer than that.
The body butchered before him is another forensic agent from another state. More important authorities should have tied my victims together by now. And yet, the game hasn’t begun to be interesting. I’m hoping Ted can change that.
Every one of my victims have been lacking. One went into protective custody. I found him the next day. One spent the night in jail. It was the easiest job. My first one wasn’t hard to hunt. And my second one thought it was a sick joke and didn’t run at all.
Ted will be different. He was born to fear. And he will run faster and harder than any of the others. He will be my challenge.
I watch the blood drain from Ted’d face as the contents of the letter sink in. He will have to use his intelligence as a forensic agent to outsmart me. He has little family and isn’t married. Ted will choose to run.
Ted gets up and stumbles out of the abandoned brown barn. He vomits his morning breakfast of coffee, eggs and a yogurt in the grass. At least he had the decency not to contaminate the crime scene - my art display.
He looks around and pushes his round glasses farther up his nose. He won’t see me looking at him, but I know he can feel my eyes watching his every move. And I know he’s thinking of how long I have been watching him. Has it been a week? How about a month? It’s been three weeks Ted.
And since I have had a bit of a head start, I’ll allow him the same courtesy. He takes off his CSI jacket and drops it to the ground before starting his gray Honda Accord. I watch him speed off, leaving a cloud of dirt in his spot.
Run, run as fast as you can. I’m going to catch you Ted Miller. I’m the Agent Killer Man.
