‘This is how bleeding leads to beauty…’
Write a poem which includes this line.
Weekly Dose #1
Blood down her wrists,
Walls pummeled with fists.
This is how bleeding leads to beauty.
She’s smiling, but she’s not amused.
She’s screaming, she’s been abused.
Her heart is crying out in pain.
She sits alone at night in vain.
Her throat is dry and sore.
She’s rocked to her very core.
Her hair is a tangled crown.
Only alone will she frown.
She’s alive, but walking dead.
She’s fighting voices in her head.
She’ll act like everything’s fine.
And pretend not to be behind.
She’s hurting, her heart laid bare.
But that’s okay, life isn’t fair.
She’s laying on the bathroom floor.
She’s sitting with a knife, locked door.
She’s struggling to just live.
She’s given all she can give.
She realizes what she wants to do.
The people around her without a clue…
The drops began to roll.
Her world begins to dull.
This… is how bleeding leads to beauty.
On her grave, a rose grows.
In a tree, a black bird crows.
Suicide is a ocean of regret…

From now on I’ll be posting a weekly health dose. Please tune in weekly. Share these posts via link to those who need it. It’s okay to not be okay. It’s fine to ask for help. I have lost loved ones to suicide. I have battled with thoughts of it to myself. It’s a sneaky devil, and it gets away with a lot. So many cases go untreated, unseen. I think it’s important to talk about it openly, to hopefully encourage others to spread awareness the same way. Mental health is something we all have in common. Young and aged people should be aware of how they feel and how they take things mentally in life. We never realize how much of an impact that has on us or a close one, until it’s too late. Interested in spreading awareness? Send this message to someone close to you:
Hello, beautiful! How is your week going? I’ve been (fill in about your week. Focus on the positive even if your week was hard). I was thinking of you and wanted to chat! I’m sending you the very best hugs!
This way, you greet them. You call them beautiful, spreading self confidence. By asking them how their week is going, you’re giving them the choice to vent or open up. By focusing on the positive in your week, you give them less to worry about. By saying you’re thinking of them, they feel heard and seen. Sending them hugs is giving warmth even from a distance. When they respond, stay open. Listen and reply. Don’t give advice until they ask. Don’t judge, be gentle and patient. Tell them you love them, you care. Try to do it once a week— no matter how well you know them.
Trust me. You’re so loved. I see you. And you couldn’t be a better person. You’re part of a community that notices you. That feels you.
