Not Turning Back

“ I’m not your nightmare Stacey!” Calup shouted as he shook Stacey awake. It was pitch dark at night the only light were the lightning reflections of a storm from Stacey’s bedroom window. She was kicking; and screaming, yelling get off of me!with her. eyes squeezed shut. she finally opened them when Calup stroked the back of her head. “It’s alright,”Calup wissperd softly. Stacey started tearing up,the tears streamed down her cheeks, she sniffled and covered her. face with her palms. 5 year old Dawn who had alerted Calup of Stacey’s behavior in her sleep, was standing behind Calup in case anything fell on him “Are you ok Stacey?”Dawn asked looking concerned, he slightly popped his head from behind Calup’s back to get a better view of her response. Calup gestured for Dawn to leave the room and assured him she’d be fine. When the door closed, Calup held Stacey’s head to his chest and slowly rubbed her back. Stacey spoke, her voice muffled “oh caaaal, Stacey muttered in his arms. what’s wrong with me!” “You need to stop living in the past, Calup continued to rub Stacey’s back and l lifted her head so she could hear what he was about to tell her. Stacey wiped her face and sat her hands on the bed they were sitting on.” God helps with these things, he can come into your heart, and give you peace he will chase those demons away from your dreams and keep you in a flowing lasting slumber that will never leave, but only if you let him.”
