POEM STARTER

Submitted by snoop

Write a poem about something getting washed away, either literally or metaphorically.

Auditions

Auditions week always brings me nerves,

Butterflies fluttering in my stomach,

But this time the butterflies attacked.

“What if’s” swirling in my mind,

As I spiraled down.

Foot tapping on the floor,

Hand tapping my chest,

Head tilted against the wall,

Eyes squeezed shut to push back the tears.

My mind and heart betrayed me,

When I needed to be calm the most.

Washed away by these thoughts.

And I can’t swim,

Not with these currents.

So I drown.

“Okay, next up, number six”
