Like the smile that latched onto my face,

My cheeks held the color for a while.

The moment felt high,

As if it’s sitting on cloud nine,

Never wanting to fall down, slip,

Gripping the cotton with all its might.

I plead for time to slow,

To take a while to breathe,

Yet time doesn’t bat an eye,

And leaves me holding onto words,

The love that will never be the same.

The way of life gives me crumbs,

And expects me to be fed,

It tries to fill what can’t be enough;
