WRITING OBSTACLE

Two people of extremely disparate age groups observe the same event. How does their age factor into their description of what happened?

Write from both people's perspectives, either interwoven or as two separate sections.

Fireworks

The room is dark, lights out

As she sits in her chair

Wrapped in blankets

Hearing aids in a loose grip on her lap

The room flashes with lights from outside

Colours of reds and purples, blues and yellows

The soundless patterns and paintings

Decorating the sky once again

The fireworks show memories,

Shapes of sparks in the sky that resemble people, places, actions, and words

Her grandson sits outside cross-legged in the grass

Staring up at the sky

Loud bangs and fizzes followed by sparkles and magic in many colours that shine and light up the sky and his mind

The lights reflect in his eyes

Like portals to his mind

Where memories are being made and created

Grown and loved
