POEM STARTER
Submitted by Lola
Write a poem about trying to resist temptation.
Forbidden Fruit.
Hands itching to freely move,
Cuffed wrists to control myself,
There’s nothing much I can do,
If I let myself go loose,
_Try, do not cry, close your eyes, stay mute, _
_Stray away from the forbidden fruit._
Yet it’s embedded in my mind,
Stitches too tight to tear out,
Arms wide out for the divine,
Divine that can ruin my life.
_Fight, fight, it’s excruciating but right,_
_Look away in the sun to bathe in moonlight._
The sunlight is way too bright,
It’s glaring at me, now I stare,
At the fruit that looks so right,
What I’m scooting closer too.
_I can’t win— can’t disappear from giving in,_
_Peace has sunken down, I must drown in sin,_
Sweet_ _fruit snacks_ _and sour dreams,
I’m buried under a ditch,
I try to sew back the seams,
Such a tedious process.
_I crawl out alive, but I lose my footing,_
_And land back in temptation, so fruity._

_(Note, I would love any critiques on my writings (on this one or any of my writings overall), because I’ve been getting more reads than likes and I’m losing a few followers, which is kinda scaring me idk why. Any type of criticism is allowed. Also, should I do like question of the day in the comments or anything? I’ve seen Just Another Teenage Girl and MusefulHeart do them (hi guys if you’re reading this lol, and if you’re not them reading this, go check them out _🫶🏾_), and I think it’d be a pretty silly thing to do)_

_(Also also lol, despite still planning my book chapters, I’m working on actually writing chapter one! I’ll make a Werdsmith acc and post the first draft of it on there if you’re interested! I’d also love book writing tips!)_
