We all look the same in the dark. I always see the same blotchy smile as if you care. Talking in the dark because if we turn the lights on your mom will tell us to go to bed. You tell me something. I nod my head and make a sound so it seems like I'm listening. The more you talk the more I know. I know you want to be with someone else. I'm not your first choice of a friend. I sob a bit. You think I chuckled because you said something funny about whoever your talking about now. The dark masks my quiet crying. You can't see but there are tears running sideways as a lay on the pillow you let me borrow. I know I'm your least favorite. I know you'd rather be with your true friends instead of me. Just have to pretend I'm oblivious to this for one more year. Then you don't need to have me trailing behind you.
