STORY STARTER
"I know where all the missing socks go."
Begin your story with this line. Consider if you would like to tell the story from the perspective of an adult or a child.
Where They Go
I know where the missing socks go
Where the pencils fall once rolling off the edge
I know where the hair ties lie once being placed
To be never seen again
I know where the necklaces go
Suddenly gone after swimming, ripped from the neck
I know where all the tears go when they drip from your eyes
Your smiles in the shadows, lost.. this was your demise
They seem so lost but yet the happiness stays locked away
And no matter what you do it doesn’t seem to stay
Those socks don’t become found, as you search through your drawers
Not knowing the place as time just runs faster
I know where the make up brushes go after a morning of rush
I know where the confidence goes after a crowd walks by
I know where the stars go after the sun rise
And I know where the time goes after deep breaths don’t work
And where sense go when an escape becomes just words
Where the blood goes once the sky flies too high
And where the love goes when someone dies
Things never just disappear, they’ve got their place to fall
Like a memory in an old shelf or a life lived for too long
I know chances line up in line in a book
I know tears fall into dirt that grows into life
The pencil that falls finds its way into the hands of an author
And the socks find a journey that your feet could never carry
I know the stars just hide away into the night
And that time becomes a race track across pages full of ink
I know sometimes that these things don’t seem right
But there’s a time and place for everything
