POEM STARTER

Write a poem with the title 'Life Lessons from Death'.

Consider what Death might want to impart on those who can experience living, and the voice that Death might speak from.

Life Lessons From Death

Love your life because you don’t get a second chance.

I’ve collected too many who come in regrets,

With potential they never lived up to.

I’ve collected those with anger,

At the life they were given,

But it could have been wonderful if they tried.

I’ve collected those who shed tears.

They weren’t ready to be done living,

Since they spent their time alive only half-living.

Don’t waste your time here,

Because if you look for the good,

Then you might be able to see the beauty in the mundane.

The crisp wind against your face is proof that you’re alive.

The just-coloring sky is proof of how wonderful it could be if you just look at the right time.

The beach waves crashing show us that even the most dangerous aspects of live still hold wonder.

You.

Are.

Alive.

You are alive as much as the plants that grow beside you,

And it is spectacular.

You only get one chance at life,

So chase your dreams,

Chase the shoreline,

Chase the wonder that this world provides.

You only live once,

So why not milk it for all it’s worth?
